Everyone is always looking for some good Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn. I've tried many Mexican restaurants and honestly, I think Mcondo Los Tacos can compete for best Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn
The vibe and service is one thing (we will get to that later), but the food is finger-licking, drool activating, taste-bud punchingly good (or whatever other creative term you can think of).
I dined-in at Mcondo Los Tacos and to set the scene for you, the ambiance is pretty laid back with an old school, dive bar-y aesthetic. The tv was running sports and they were playing some classic raggae music (it's different every time I've been here tbh, but it's always a vibe). The ambiance really makes you wanna hang out after licking the plates clean.
The service was also great. I didn't get our waitress's name, but she was very attentive and frequently checked in. In between our appetizers and main dishes she also cleared the table and constantly refilled our water throughout dinner.
The food came out quickly, but not so quick you raise a brow (we've all been there lol). To top it all off, everything was pretty good.
Also, for the drinkers there’s a full bar. Lastly, just a heads up, the restaurant is cash only, BUT, they have a FREE ATM for customers.
Caution, in this post your mouth may water as I review 3 dishes from my favorite Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn!
3 Dishes Reviewed From Mcondo Los Tacos | Mexican Restaurant In Williamsburg Brooklyn
1. Fish Taco
The flavor is all in the picture! We all know fish doesn’t come in orange; that’s a testament to the seasoning and the flavor this beauty had.
When it comes to the best tacos in Brooklyn, I'll put this this up to compete.
Aesthetically pleasing and flavorlly pleasing lol (if that’s a word). It came with pickled red onions mixed with grilled fish, and topped with guac. The gauc was mild and smooth.
You guys will learn over time how much I love chipotle mayo (I mentioned it in the El Jeffe Review) & the chipotle mayo here is a must. It is homemade and mixed in a mini bowl. Pour it all over the taco and you'll come back here and thank me in the comments.
A simple taco that isn’t dry and packs a punch. Easy 9 with the chipotle Mayo!
Rating: 9/10
2. Shrimp Nachos
Let’s just get this out the way, best nachos I’ve ever had to date!
I’m usually not a fan of sour cream but everything here served a purpose. These nachos are a mix of marinated shrimp and the right amount of beans & cheese ( two strong flavors that somehow did not over power each other).
To top it off the nachos included some sprinkled cojita cheese, jalapeños that weren’t very spicy, pico & of course Guac.
It sounds like a lot, but I promise it’s a perfect bite each time. The actual tortilla chips were fried to perfection and remained crispy (not a fan of soggy nachos)
Without the chipotle Mayo I’d give it a 9.2. But after adding some chipotle mayo to it, I promise this is a 9.5, NO DEBATE!
Rating: 9.2/10
3. Shrimp Taco
I feel like this place just does everything well.
The shrimp was not fishy, or chewy. It tastes like it had an all-purpose type of seasoning on it. It was jammed with pico, smooth and creamy Guac & shrimp.
A less is more taco wrapped in double tortilla makes for a simple yet memorable taco leaving you wanting another. Know I had to top it off with the chipotle mayo making it an 8.7.
Rating: 8.7/10
