There's always discussion about which spot has the best cookies in NYC. Crumbl Cookies currently has some hype as not just the best cookies in NYC, but maybe the United States. Insomnia Cookies has been a big name for a while; but after tasting warm (yes they always come warm) Chip City Cookies, I was surprisingly impressed.
One may ask how much are chip city cookies? Despite being $4.50 a cookie, the taste and large (2 people could share) size justifies the purchase, everytime!
According to their "Our Story" section on the Chip City website, Chip City started in Astoria, Queens in 2017. Two childhood friends had a challenge to see who could create the best cookie, and that turned into the Chip City we know.
There are 18 chip city locations across Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan & Long Island. Even more exciting, by the end of the year they will also be expanding into New Jersey. Even if all these locations don't cut it or aren't convenient for you, they also deliver NATIONWIDE.
When I was looking for cookies near me, luckily, there was a chip city right in Carrol Gardens. With rotating flavors every week, I waited about 3 weeks to try 8 unique flavors to review on a 1-10 scale.
Should Chip City be in the best cookies in NYC convo? In this post, I'll be saving you time and rating 8 Chip City flavors I've tried, so you don't have to.
8 Flavors Reviewed From Chip City Cookies In NYC:
1. Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie
Let me preface this with chocolate chip cookies are my favorite. Now, to do a dairy free chocolate chip cookie puts a new twist on a classic.
I didn’t know what to expect because I usually get the regular chocolate chip. But believe me when I say they might’ve took away the dairy, but there was no compromise in taste.
The crumb creating crisp on the edge, and soft, melted, chocolate bite at its core, makes this cookie perfect for any consumer.
It’s a solid chocolate chip cookie and the fact that it’s dairy free gives it an extra boost. Easily a 9 as far as chocolate chip cookies go overall.

2. Oatmeal Apple Pie
Wow, just Wow. Now I already know this may not float everyone’s boat, but this right here!! This cookie alone might put Chip City as a best cookies in NYC contender.
Not too much apple, not too much oatmeal (could’ve easily been dry). Each bite came punched with cinnamon spiced oatmeal and warm sweet apple.
You know food is good when it invokes a memory, and that first bite reminded me of a warm McDonald’s apple pie. To me that was one of the best desserts as a kid. 9.4 and that’s as a cookie period!

3. Red Velvet Cheesecake Cookie
I loved the idea of it, but I’ve personally never been a big fan of too much cream cheese filling. I still think it’s a solid cookie.
Don't get me wrong, the red velvet base was the best part of the cookie. Nothing short of great. However, the burst of cream cheese actually threw the cookie off for me. It was warm and sweet, but as a whole, it just felt like too much.
I did take a piece around the edge without the big burst of cream cheese and this cookie could've easily be an 8.5. That was a fire bite!
Overall, i’d give it a 7.5. My girlfriend thinks it’s an 8. She’s more of a red velvet fan so you can still feel good about that.

4. Butterscotch Toffee Cookie
When I tell you this cookie right here caught me by surprise.
Butterscotch tips and toffee bits, wow! This is what you call a cookie. we all know butterscotch is a classic and you get butterscotch in each bite.
The toffee tips sneak up on you once the butterscotch subsides and boom! You’re hit with a mix of flavors that should be illegal to be this good. Crunchy on the outside, a bit softer on the inside and not too sweet.
All Chip City cookies come warm, so you know it packed the extra punch. We ate this whole cookie and was mad we didn't get two of them.

5. S'mores Cookie
Let's take a second to appreciate how good this cookie looks!
This wasn't what I expected. It was a chocolate chip cookie all around, outside of the melted marshmallow pieces on top. I actually preferred that vs marshmallow in every bite.
It was a good amount of marshmallow and great amount of melted chocolate (which you can droolingly see in the pic). Similar to most of their cookies, it was crunchy around the edges and soft at the core.
Was an okay cookie for me.

7. Confetti Cookie
Who doesn’t love a confetti cookie? Even though this is one of the sweeter cookies, it’s a classic you just can't write off.
This has a vanilla base that you could taste, giving this cookie that good vanilla sweetness. Then with every bite you’re met with multi color sprinkles, being the icing on the cake (or sprinkle on the cookie lol idk). Regardless this is a good pickup and must be eaten warm.
Just a heads up, it was also the softest of the cookies. Some people may feel it's too mushy, but personally, I didn't mind.

8. Cookies and Cream Cookie
A mix of the chocolate sandwhich cookies and white chocolate chips created the cookies and cream cookie.
I wanted to love this since I LOVE cookies and cream in general, (2nd best flavor after cookie dough) but it just wasn’t cutting it for me. The cookie just felt more like a pretty okay Oreo.
Don’t get me wrong it’s still a fine cookie. They didn’t skimp on cookies and cream, it was in every bite. It was also warm and not too sweet. However, it was nothing special.
