Ever had that striking sweet tooth that feels like it has a mind of its own? I don't know about you, but when I'm craving some sweets treats, I can't function until I get my dose of sugar. (if there's a hotline for this type of addiction, now is the time to call. I took a trip to Martha's Country Bakery In Williamsburg, Brooklyn and it wasn't just a bakery, it was an experience! If you're looking for a bakery in NYC or dessert in Brooklyn, it is definitely worth a visit.
The waitress was really attentive and checked in enough times for us to feel loved, but not so much for us to be annoyed at all. She was chill and made recommendations like the ice cream for the apple pie.
Music was 10/10 with a dj who had a mini set up. It wasn’t loud enough for us not to hear each other. Despite seats being a bit close to those occupying the next table it was super intimate and dimly lit, with candles on tables.
As for the sweets, they came out in about 5-10 minutes and were warm if need be. As I mentioned before, it is not your ordinary bakery in Brooklyn (or anywhere for that matter) Martha's is an experience outside of just the dessert.
Let me take you on that experience with me in this post, as I review a few desserts I tried at Martha's Bakery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
4 Sweets From The Trendy Martha's Bakery In Williamsburg, Brooklyn:
1. Warm Apple Crumb Pie With Vanilla Ice Cream
Nothing like a warm apple pie!
This beautiful concoction was made of warm apples with cinnamon and crumbs at the top for a bit of crunch.
I usually don’t get ice cream, but it was really good and not too sweet and together it was right on the money. (thanks to the waitress for the vanilla ice cream recommendation).
The ice cream wasn't rock solid frozen but stayed solid for most of the meal. Finally the pie was topped with a bit of powdered sugar.
The crust was pretty thin so if that’s your thing (my girlfriend pointed it out) then that’s something to keep in mind. But apples bussing, ice cream bussing, so together, it did what it was supposed to do. 8/10!

2. Tres Leche Cake
I had a few tres leche cakes in my time and one thing I can say was this was the most moist tres leche cake I’ve ever had.
Not moist to where it was all water and no cake, it was still solid but very leche-y lol and for that I give extra points.
Cinnamon was coming through very well and the cake was was fluffy. The cake and icing pretty much melted in your mouth. You can also taste the sweetness coming from the condensed milk. It all came together for a tasty spongy bite.
This particular cake had peaches in it which was new for me. I personally wasn’t a fan of that but it was still good. 7.8!

3. Banana Nutella Creme Brule
You guys will learn that I love banana. So banana desserts I’m all for.
However I think the Nutella was overpowering the dessert. It was good and the crème brûlée was crème bruleing as the kids would say. Nice sugar crust on top and it wasn’t overbearingly sweet, layered on a rich custard.
If you love Nutella this would be a 10/10 for you but for me it was a 7.7/10. Took a few bites, and to be honest I could see myself sharing this with someone again in the future.

4. Vegan Carrot Cake
Lastly, similar to the tres leche cake I’ve had a great amount of carrot cakes and a few vegan ones.
This right here was different. Maybe I’m just realizing this, but this is the first time I’ve ever tasted/noticed raisins in carrot cake. It was weird for me but not in the worst way, just a different way.
Anywho I think it was pretty good for a vegan cake and held its own. The filling wasn’t too sweet which I clearly appreciate. It was the perfect amount of carrot taste as well, with a hint of what tastes like cinnamon.
The vegan cream cheese frosting lacked the animal products but not the flavor. It was whipped well and was layered between the cake. This tasted enough like the real deal, which is always a plus in my book.
I’ll give it a 7.5 mainly because the raisins was a bit different and I feel like it could have been better without it.

How sweet was this post?! (I know it's corny but bare with me). There's plenty of menu to try, and they're open pretty late, so it may not be too late to head there right now.
